Madeleine's research interests are in the ethics of assisted reproductive technologies - including genetic editing - and ethical issues surrounding the use of animals in competitive sport. With Dr Amanda de Mestre, Madeleine also researches endometrial health in mares. Madeleine's clinical expertise in equine artificial reproduction, including subfertility in mares and stallions.

I continue to be involved in three research topics: (1) analysis of data from an EU funded project GplusE, investigating the relationships between genotype and environment in the health and fertility of dairy cows in early lactation; (2) examining the influences of health, housing and nutrition on calf survival and development; (3) working with Dr de Mestre to investigate possible genetic causes contributing to early pregnancy loss in the horse.
