The RVC participates in the Direct Loan Program in which federal financial assistance is made available from the US Department of Education to US students studying at the RVC. The purpose of this page is to inform you about the process of applying for financial assistance.

The RVC College will originate Direct Stafford loans and Direct Graduate and Parent PLUS loans and full-time students from the USA who are attending at the RVC are normally eligible for funding. The RVC also participates in the VA Educational Benefits programme.

For September 2024 entry, RVC will be offering one BSc scholarship per cohort and can be offered to a home or overseas student entering our Biological Sciences programme.

This scholarship is to the value of £6,560 p.a. and is based on your performance during the admissions process (taking into account your previous academic performance and your application as a whole).You will be informed if any additional paperwork needs to be submitted. 

RVC offers one Merit full fee waiver scholarship awarded to one high quality international student entering our BVetMed programme.

This scholarship is based on your performance during the admissions process (taking into account your interview scores, previous academic performance and Grade Point Average and your application as a whole).

Decisions will be made once our International admissions process has been completed, and all of our offers have been made. You will be informed if any additional paperwork needs to be submitted.

RVC bursary for outstanding home and international students undertaking a Masters in 2024/25.   

The RVC postgraduate bursary will be offering a discretionary amount, typically of £5,000 upwards per recipient, to select outstanding home and international students undertaking a Masters in 2024/25. These will be allocated on a highly competitive basis to students applying for a full-time place.

Bursaries will be allocated in or by July 2024 at the discretion of the Scholarship Allocation Board. All students who have applied by the course deadline or 5 June 2024 (whichever is soonest) and have been offered a full-time place will be considered. Priority will be given to those who have met the English language requirements, or shown evidence of their exam booking, by 5 June 2024.

Competitive bursary for overseas applicants

If you are successful in applying for a PhD studentship in an area of strategic importance to us then you can apply for a bursary of £5,000 per annum. These are competitive bursaries and candidates will be selected using information supplied in their application form, curriculum vitae and at an interview, which can be held by telephone or video conference link for overseas students.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme (DFID)

Students should apply through their provincial student assistance office or website. When you apply for a loan, you are considered for funding by both the Provincial and Federal Government, meaning you only have to apply once for funding for the year. Federal loans are processed via the National Student Loans Service Centre and provincial loans through the provincial governments and student aid branches.

All Clinical Training Residencies are fully funded. 

• As a Resident your tuition fees will be paid by the department that you are working in.
• Residents are required to cover the cost of their own accommodation.
• A stipend will be paid monthly in arrears. Currently the stipend is £24,500 per annum (subject to review).

The AVTRW have just launched a new student grant scheme, worth up to £1500 per undergraduate project.

• As an intern you will be awarded a scholarship for your fees.
• A stipend will be paid monthly in arrears. Currently the stipend is £17,200 per annum (subject to review)
• A single occupancy room in a shared (with others interns) house on-site is available for the duration of the internship for RVC based interns. No pets are allowed in the accommodation.
