The Taster Courses are on-campus opportunities for students in Year 12 to experience a day at the RVC. These taster courses are facilitated by the University of London.

Our University of London Taster Courses offer Year 12 students an exclusive opportunity to experience what studying with us at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) is like. During the day, students take part in a variety of university-style teaching, including course-specific lectures, small group sessions, and practical, hands-on activities. Students also have the chance to tour our campus, hear directly from our Student Ambassadors about daily life, and receive tailored advice on the application process. Together, these experiences provide an immersive introduction designed to help students decide whether an RVC degree is the right choice for them.   We currently offer two Taster Courses:  

Veterinary Nursing Taster Course

Veterinary Nursing Taster Course

This one-day introduction to Veterinary Nursing takes place at our 575-acre Hawkshead Campus, Hertfordshire. It offers aspiring veterinary nurses in Year 12 the chance to experience what it is like to study the subject with us at the RVC. Our current students guide and support participants throughout the day, creating opportunities to learn about the student experience first-hand. The programme includes lectures and practical teaching delivered by our academic experts, a tour of the Hawkshead Campus, including the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals (Europe’s largest referral veterinary hospital), and advice on the application process. To apply, students must be on track to meet the course-specific entry requirements. 

Applications must go through the University of London.

Biological Sciences This one-day introduction to Biological Sciences takes place at the our Camden Campus, London. 

This one-day introduction to Biological Sciences takes place at the RVC’s Camden Campus, London. 

It is designed to provide Year 12 students with the opportunity to experience life as a Biological Sciences student at the RVC. Our current students guide and support participants throughout the day, creating opportunities to learn about the student experience first-hand. The programme includes lectures and practical teaching in one of our laboratories delivered by our academic experts, a tour of the Camden Campus, and application advice. To apply, students must be on track to meet the course-specific entry requirements.

Applications must go through the University of London.
