Dr Marthe Ludtmann has received a Royal Society Research Grant to investigate the redox control of a mitochondrial protein that has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

Marthe will employ a technology called “redox proteomics” which studies changes to proteins that are caused by cellular stress which is a common feature in neurodegenerative diseases. This study aims to help our understanding of mitochondria in health and disease. To carry out this work, Marthe has teamed up with Dr Edward Chouchani from the Dana-Faber Cancer Institute & Harvard Medical School in Boston
