Induction, Probation and Promotion
This page details information about the induction, probation and promotion processes at the RVC.
The purpose of the RVC Induction Programme is to help new employees settle into their roles quickly, happily and successfully. All new employees at the RVC receive an individual induction conducted by HR.
For more information and to download the Induction Handbook, please refer to the intranet page: Induction.
All new employees at the RVC are subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. The line manager will introduce the new starter (‘the probationer’) to the main duties and responsibilities of their role and the standards expected of them. The probationary period is designed as a supportive and positive two-way process to enable the probationer to receive sufficient support and guidance in order to be competent to carry out their role.
Academic Staff Probation
The standard probationary period for academic staff will normally be 3 years. For more information about Academic Staff probation, please refer to the intranet page: Academic Staff Probation.
