Due to the recent successes in attracting new funding, a second state-of-the-art experimental facility is currently being built at the Hawkshead Campus to cater to the Structure and Motion Lab's growing research programme.

The new building will accommodate muscle physiology and neuromechanics laboratories, an environmentally-controlled laboratory for a large radius animal centrifuge for studying responses to musculoskeletal loading under hypergravity and a controlled environment for studying the oxygen consumption of animals - including humans during exercise. A full height open area will be used for bird, insect and UAV flight studies and is designed to accommodate a wind tunnel in future.

The new building is expected to be completed by June 2015.
