ERADbTB grant awarded to Dr Sharon Kendall and Professor Dirk Werling
Dr Sharon Kendall (PI) and Professor Dirk Werling are heading a consortium that has been awarded a BBSRC-Defra research grant with the aim to identify the genetic determinants of virulence in Mycobacterium bovis in the bovine host using Transposon Directed Insertion Sequencing (TraDIS) – an approach that offers the potential to identify novel vaccine candidates for bovine tuberculosis.
The award (worth £1.3 million) is a result of a collaboration between LSHTM and the AHPA and is part of the eradication of bovine tuberculosis (ERADbTB) initiative launched by the BBRSC and Defra.
