Our first opinion animal hospital is based at the RVC Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital at our Camden Campus. The hospital offers a full range of services for dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, birds and other small animals, from vaccinations and neutering to medical diagnosis and life-saving operations.

Our dedicated team are committed to providing excellent care and treatment. Each member of our team has a special interest in particular fields, such as dentistry, diagnostic imaging, medicine, surgery and exotic species. This means all species receive expert treatment by genuinely interested and caring practitioners.

Veterinary Medicine students will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of client and patient care under the supervision of experienced veterinary surgeons and registered veterinary nurses.

The practice is a leading centre for veterinary nurse training. Our Veterinary Nursing students will have the opportunity to support the nursing team in the care of animals and client services under the supervision of qualified veterinary surgeons and experienced registered nurses.

During my six-week placement at the Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital I learnt a variety of skills. I spent a considerable amount of time in theatre where I gained experience using ventilators, ECG monitors, patient warming equipment and blood pressure monitoring equipment as well as being trained on the use of the multi-parameter machine.
I was fortunate to spend the sum of two weeks in the exotics ward where I gained hands on experience with x-raying tortoises, administering nursing care to a parrot kept as an in-patient for a few weeks and feeding rabbits and guinea pigs.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I would urge anyone studying to become a veterinary nurse or surgeon to spend time there before graduating to ensure a well-rounded learning experience and to build confidence for day one on the job.
