What To Expect

This unique 3-day programme, for those students who are aspiring to study a degree in Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine or Veterinary Nursing, provides the opportunity to experience what studying at the RVC’s London and Hertfordshire campuses is like. Comprehensive support and expert advice is delivered by RVC Student Ambassadors and staff throughout the Summer School to help build confidence and a sense of belonging. During the programme, like-minded students will engage in practical activities and a range of animal handling work experience as well as develop skills and knowledge to help support university decision-making.

Costs and Scholarships

The RVC Year 11 Summer School is free to attend. The following expenses are covered: Food and drinks whilst on campus, transport to and from the campus, all equipment and activities.

Application and Entry Requirements

This Summer School is a free to attend, non-residential, opportunity for current Year 11 pupils from under-represented backgrounds. To participate in this activity you must attend a state school, live within a 50 mile radius of either RVC Campus, and meet a number of other Widening Participation eligibility criteria such as being the first in the family to go to university, being eligible for Free School Meals, or living in an area with low progression rates to higher education.

The RVC is dedicated to being an organisation in which equity, diversity and inclusion underpin all that we do.   Eligibility for this bursary is targeted to support under-represented individuals, as we believe students from every background should be able to access advice, guidance and support in order to help them progress to and benefit from the transformative experience of higher education.   For more information on our commitment to improve equality of opportunity for under-represented groups please read our Access & Participation Plan (APP): www.rvc.ac.uk/study/rvc-is-open-for-all/access-and-participation
