We would like to thank our RVC community for supporting the 2023 Pride Month event!

We had a marvellous response to our 2023 Pride Presentation.  On the 22nd of June, we welcomed Gillian Russell (she, them), Trustee and CEO of Beyond Reflections, who gave an informative online talk to the RVC on the importance of using correct gender pronouns, why it matters and how to be a good ally to our LGBTQIA+ students, colleagues and friends.

Gillian’s aim was to talk about how to create and improve the understanding of the trans and non-binary experience, how these link to the wider subject of diversity and inclusion and help to explain the terminology to those who may not be so familiar with this theme. Beyond Reflections is a charity that has supported over a thousand trans, non-binary and questioning people since being founded in 2005, helping people across England and Wales, offering practical counselling and support services to trans, non-binary, and questioning adults, their family, and friends.   This event was attended by over 110 guests and has received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with 86% of our audience feeling better informed about the use of gender pronouns after attending the session.
