Advanced VN Diploma

Advanced VN Diploma

The RVC leads the way in the training and education of registered veterinary nurses (RVNs) and has played a key role in the development of the profession. In 2008 the College established the UK’s first Professor of Veterinary Nursing and also launched the Graduate Diploma in Professional and Clinical Veterinary Nursing. The advanced diploma is a unique programme designed to help qualified VNs further their knowledge, sharpen their skills and gain confidence to progress within their careers.

Graduate Diploma Structure

The diploma is a part-time distance learning course, delivered online over a period of between 20 and 36 months. The flexibility of the course allows students to fit it around their work. Students participate in online discussions and perform set tasks via the RVC's virtual learning environment.

Participants benefit from exposure to some of the UK's top clinical specialists and by joining a network of peers who learn from one another. Students receive one-to-one feedback on their progress.

The course places emphasis on real-life situations to ensure participants become better equipped to influence patient health. Practices benefit from VNs being able to make an enhanced contribution to the workplace. The majority of students are sponsored by employers.

It is not essential to have a VN degree to join the course but participants should have at least one year's post-registration experience. Graduates receive a University of London qualification and can use the letters GradDipVN after their name. For more information click here.
