Rifat is a PhD student in the Veterinary Epidemiology, Economics and Public Health group. The PhD is supervised by Prof Liam Good, Dr. Steven Van Winden and Prof Dirk Werling.

Rifat joined the Royal Veterinary College as a PhD student in October 2019.  

Rifat`s background is in Veterinary Medicine, having gained a BSc in Veterinary Medicine from Afyon Kocatepe University, Turkey, in 2014, and an MSc in Animal Science from the Aberystwyth University, in 2019. Rifat`s MSc project was supervised by Dr Justin Pachebat and explored the developing a novel diagnostic test for Campylobacter species. Rifat had taken his MSc dissertation project in the microbiology laboratory on the optimisation of PCR, Quantitative PCR and LAMP to detect Campylobacter DNA.

Rifat is working on species selective effects of the polymer-based antimicrobials. His interests is mainly focus on E. Coli, S. Aureus and Lactobacillus species.
