While majority of the core IMR take place in the College’s clinical centres, various weeks of core and tracking IMR require you to travel to various parts of London or further afield. = £4,244 for complete CertAVP

Additional fees may be required if your 2 year module enrolment period needs extending.

These fees are valid until 31st July 2024.

You should also budget for registering on CPD courses that support CertAVP module learning outcomes.  You will be eligible for a 20% discount on RVC CPD courses, many of which do support a variety of CertAVP module learning outcomes.

Please note there are also RCVS fees to be paid.

RCVS fees

Candidates applying for and enrolling with the RCVS in order to gain an RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Nursing are required to pay additional fees as set out by the RCVS as follows:

• Pay RCVS initial enrolment fee of £79* at the start of the course
• On completion of the course, £200* to the RCVS

The sums required will vary between projects and you are advised to contact Admissions or the supervisor of the project you are interested in for further information before making an application.

Funded Scholarships

The College offers about 10-25 fully funded scholarships a year. These are often funded by UK charities, research councils (e.g. BBSRC), and College Funds. This means that your tuition fees are paid and that you receive a stipend to cover living expenses. Stipends are paid monthly in arrears.

Self-Funded PhD Students

Along with the course tuition fees, self-funded students will need to cover

1. bench fees: the amount will vary considerably depending on the nature of the project.
2. living costs: it is currently estimated that a single student will need at least £15,000 per year to cover accommodation and personal maintenance expenses whilst studying in or near to London. When applying for a visa UKBA will require proof that you can support yourself.

The tuition fees for students commencing course in 2022/23 are £39,090 and 2023/24 fees are £42,020.

If you qualify as a UK/EU student for this postgraduate course, a bursary of £8,000 may be available.

• A stipend will be paid monthly in arrears. Currently the stipend is £17,200 per annum (subject to review)

• A single occupancy room in a shared (with others interns) house on-site is available for the duration of the internship for RVC based interns. No pets are allowed in the accommodation.

NB - The annual fee is reflective of the 60 credits unique to that level (i.e. the PGDip in full compromises 120 credits and the MSc 180).

*a 10% discount is applied if fees for the full programme are paid in advance. 

Discounts are available for organisations who sponsor four or more participants.

The UK government postgraduate student loan is not normally available to those enrolling on a part-time Master’s degree course.

The Programme Fees below refer to the 2024 session only and are effective from 1 March 2023:

Fees are subject to annual review and may be paid in one of two ways:  

Option 1

On registration, a single payment covering the registration fee and all module fees:  

The total fee incorporates a discount for payment in advance.  

Option 2

Pay the registration fee, plus the fee for each module you take in your first year. Then, in subsequent years, you pay the fee for each new module you take.  

College staff / alumni discount

Royal Veterinary College staff members and alumni will receive a bursary of 20% off fees for these distance-learning programmes (excluding resit fees).  Please contact the Course Administrator for further information.

• Students from countries outside the UK who wish to undertake full-time study at the RVC are required to pay the international fee for their programme of study (please see Fee status section).

The following course-related costs are included in the fees:

• Student membership of the British Veterinary Association for course duration
• Access to books and journals essential to your course (print and digital)
• Open access and bookable IT equipment such as PCs and laptops
• Largely paperless curriculum plus £10 p.a. printing allowance

• Annual membership of College gym (both campuses)

The following course-related costs are not included in the fees:

• Specialist clothing and equipment £600 for the whole course. This amount includes some likely additional spend on replacement items.
• Travel to AHEMS and EMS placements
• Some AHEMS and EMS placements will also require students to pay for board and lodging
• Travel to various intramural rotations (IMR). While majority of the core IMR take place in the College’s clinical centres, various weeks of core and tracking IMR require you to travel to various parts of London or further afield. Financial support is provided to help offset the likely travel costs entailed and for certain rotations accommodation is also provided
