Libby holds 20 years’ experience working in veterinary diagnostic laboratories, including 15 years in operational management across commercial, higher education, and contract research sectors. Her responsibilities spanned operational oversight alongside strategic planning and project delivery.

Libby began her veterinary career in companion animal practice before exploring a long-held interest in veterinary immunology and infectious disease, undertaking a master’s degree in veterinary immunology, followed by a PhD in feline virology and immunology. Previous roles include positions at Glasgow’s School of Veterinary Medicine including Registrar in Infectious Diseases, Academic Head of the Virology Diagnostic Laboratory and leading the Infectious Disease Diagnostic Laboratory.
