Peter has worked as a farrier at the Royal Veterinary College for more than 20 years. Peter is the inventor of the hoof support patch for the prevention and treatment of collapsed heels in horses. Peter is currently studying towards his Grad Dip ELR

Peter is a practical farrier who runs his own business and has been working at the Royal Veterinary College for more than 20 years on a part-time basis.

Peter has a keen interest in farriery related research. He is the inventor of the hoof support patch for the prevention and treatment of collapsed heels in horses. He has investigated the effect of the patches on blood flow in the equine hoof and on hoof deformation and is currently conducting a clinical trial to investigate their effectiveness in clinical circumstances. Pete has developed a series of clinical skills stations for students to practice day 1 skills, such as shoe removal or paring out a foot abscess. He is organising and teaching on farriery related CPD courses, e.g. functional anatomy for farriers and radiography for farriers. iN 2010 Peter was awarded the James Bee educator award .
