Summary

In this part of the program we have illustrated the process of history taking with reference to a particular case.

We have outlined the procedures, the ways of extracting information from the owner, and the pitfalls which may occur during the history taking process.

vet summing up to owner

This has reduced an apparently complex case to what seems like a fairly simple range of possible differential diagnoses.

But we have emphasised that you must keep your options open.  The history is only the initial part of the process.

Now we must move on to the rest of the diagnostic process based on this firm foundation.

This will consist of a physical examination, development of a diagnostic plan and execution of tests and possible trial therapy indicated by our consideration of the history and the physical state of the animal.
