We offer the following opportunities for students from Widening Participation backgrounds in Years 10-12:

Easter School (Year 10)

Date: 8th & 9th April 2019 (non-residential)
Location: RVC Camden Campus & RVC Hawkshead Campus 
Year Group: Year 10 
Capacity: 20 pupils

Eligibility: To participate in this activity your school must be a non-selective state school and/or a school with low average attainment levels for GCSE or A Level. Widening Participation events and activities are funded by the RVC’s Access Agreement and Widening Participation funds. This two-day, non-residential Easter School takes place at our Camden and Hawkshead campuses for students currently in Year 10 (2018/19). You will meet peers who are also aspiring vets and scientists, and reflect on your own career goals and how to achieve them. Practically, you can take part in fun activities at our Equine Hospital and teaching laboratories. We welcome recommendations from teachers regarding pupils who would benefit from being chosen. A maximum of 20 places are available.

Summer School (Year 11)

Date: 27th August – 29th August 2019 (non-residential)
Location: RVC Camden Campus & RVC Hawkshead Campus 
Year Group: Year 11 
Capacity: 35 pupils
Cost: FREE

This three-day, free Summer School takes place at our Camden and Hawkshead campuses for students who are currently in Year 11 (2018/19). We will invite students who were part of our Year 10 Easter School, and welcome 15 new applicants. Building on the Easter School activities, you will enjoy mini-lectures and practical sessions in anatomy, physiology and biochemistry (foundations for veterinary medicine/biosciences) to help you choose career goals.

Sutton Trust Summer School

Date: Monday 12 - Friday 16 August 2019 (Residential) 
Location: RVC Hawkshead and Camden Campuses 
Year Group: Year 12 
Capacity: 50 pupils

The RVC Sutton Trust Summer School is designed for students to enjoy a flavour of university life through living at the Royal Veterinary College’s Hawkshead Campus for a week during the school holidays. The Sutton Trust cover all costs for Widening Participation pupils, and students take part in lectures, fun evening activities and even a mini conference! Firm friendships are formed during this week which is intended as an introduction to higher education as well as a chance to meet like-minded prospective veterinary medicine and biological sciences students.
