The Royal Veterinary College is the oldest vet school in the UK, and is part of the University of London. The RVC enjoys a prestigious reputation throughout the world, and the expertise of our staff is internationally recognised. We received the maximum score of 24 out of 24 in an assessment of teaching standards by the Quality Assurance Agency in 2003. The veterinary medicine degree is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and the RVC was the first UK veterinary school to be accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association. Our graduates benefit from the ability to practice throughout both the UK and the USA, and further afield. The accreditation of the BSc Bioveterinary Science course by the Society of Biology has recognised the valuable skills and experiences these students go onto offer to employers within the science sector. Further details are available from the Society of Biology.
The RVC is committed to creating employable graduates that meet the needs of the veterinary sector and beyond. Our commitment to creating leaders of the future does not stop at helping our graduates into employment; We recognise that finding the right role, offering professional development and job satisfaction, is just as important for all our graduates and their employers. So, whether you are an alumnus of the RVC who appreciates the opportunity to maintain this link with the RVC and is well aware of the capabilities and skills of our graduates, or an employer who is learning about us for the first time, thank you!
A lot of our graduates and specialist postgraduates are interested in veterinary practice including companion, equine, exotic and farm roles but some seek alternative options. Such other areas can include roles involving work with animals, animal charities, related government agencies, veterinary pathology, veterinary practice management and zoo-keeping. Additionally, scientific roles in industry, academia and publishing are often of interest.
If you have any questions about the vacancy promotion process, or would like to engage our students/graduates further, please contact the RVC Careers Service.

Small Animal Vet
Barn Lodge Vets, Lancashire
Does a position as Small Animal Vet in an Independent, Family-Run practice with Hospital facilities and toys sound like the dream?
We think so! For new grads, we offer support in-practice with VetGDP mentor and from XLVets new grad programme and alongside a 2021 grad who has walked the same path for those beginning their career, together with encouragement to take your own independent steps and manage your own caseload with advice when you need it.
And for those further along in their career then the space, equipment and investment to reach out to their next steps and responsibilities.
Ormskirk, Lancashire is the place I’ve called home for 26 years. May have a funny name but we’re in the sweetest spot with a fantastic local community, and surrounded by beautiful countryside, whilst Liverpool and Manchester are only 30/50minutes away respectively. Our ambition, as a family, is to create a working environment for us all to take pride in and the Hospital status of our central hub is really important to us; but we remain a very close team, this certainly isn’t a huge team where you could get lost or forgotten – We’re small enough to care but big enough to cope! We have three radial practices, one is a typical GP centre and two are just for outreach consults in local communities – you’ll get the idea when we tour you round! We tend to start everyone off at the Hospital within the team, and then explore other spots just when you’re ready.
Our typical 40 hour week has no Out-Of-Hours, and only 1 in 5 Saturdays (9-3) as we value focussed working hours and then ability to enjoy decent breaks and time off around our home here. We pay for subscriptions, generous CPD budget, all the things you’d expect from a practice that wants to do right by its staff, clients, and patients together. If we think cases need additional expertise, we have some visiting consultants as well as support from an excellent local referral centre, and they actively encourage us to follow interesting cases along too. We do keep a fair number of bells and whistles to hand in the practice too – DR and dental xray, sparkling ultrasound, ortho kit, Laparoscopy arriving this autumn – everything we need to make doing a good job easy, we have here to hand.
Salary-wise, our new grads start at £33,000, and salaries rise to £65,000 for advanced expertise clinicians. Private medical insurance, and even your birthday off too!
If you’d like to have a chat about our practice, why we think it’s special, and to see if you agree, then message me / email Jsk@barnlodgevets.co.uk or phone 07845802108 and see if you’d like to come and visit the team.
Best wishes,
Mr Joel Kirwan BA (Hons)

Veterinary Surgeon - Singapore
Allpets & Aqualife Vet Clinic is in search of an enthusiastic veterinarian to join our team. An experienced candidate is preferred, however, new and recent graduates are also welcome to apply. New graduates will be rostered alongside experienced colleagues and all round support is there.
We are a well established general practice in the North Eastern leafy suburbs of Singapore. We have an energetic and passionate team with the strength of 5 vets and 11 techs and nurses.
If the thought of working and living in a country which is safe and has a stable economy, with a perennial sunny climate and easy access to nearby South East Asian beautiful beaches and landscapes appeals to you- Singapore might be the place for you.
The candidate will have good communication skills, sound leadership qualities, and will work well within our team. She or he is open to developing new skills. CPE is encouraged and financially supported. Salary package offered will be commensurate with experience.
Annual Salary for a newly minted graduate is upwards from $72000 - for a 4 day week- before bonuses. Taxation is very low (about 10%) in Singapore which means you will take home more at the end of the day. A relocation package is available.
Our principal is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Melbourne and has a special interest and qualifications in aquatic medicine. Due to his expertise, we see anything from valuable koi fish to macaques, to the more common family dog, cat, rabbit and small furry, which makes for a colourful day at the office.
We are a busy practice with exposure to a wide variety of medicine and surgical cases. We make full use of all our equipment, which include the full suite of Idexx blood machines, Ultrasound, Digital Radiography, Endoscopes, Cryosurgical equipment, Tonometry, etc. Sonography is part and parcel of practice, and we have an experienced sonographer within our team.
The practice is open for consultations Mondays to Fridays 9.30am- 1pm, and 3-7.30pm. Saturdays we close earlier at 5.30pm, and we are closed on Sundays and public holidays. After hours work is minimal.

We are offering the following:
• Two year contract with a view to permanency if mutually agreeable
