The RVC Animal Care Trust is running their Paws & Shoes Challenge to raise money for the RVC Small Animal Referrals Hospital. Last year dog walking teams raised almost £5,000 to help more pets receive life-saving care. With teams challenging themselves to walk 1,000 minutes in four weeks, or setting a bespoke target, it proved a great way to get active.

52 dogs of all shapes and sizes took part, choosing their own start date. The flexibility of adapting the challenge, so it suited fitness levels and social diaries, helped more people sign up. It was a fantastic way for everyone (and every pooch) to come together to raise money for pets who are critically ill in hospital. Jenni, who took part in Paws & Shoes 2023 told us -

"We loved taking part in Paws & Shoes. It got us all fit, took us to new places - trying to think of somewhere different to go to get those 'paws' hitting the floor was half the fun! Everyone needs to exercise more and what better way to start the year off?! My top tip would be don't worry about how much money you raise, it really is all about taking part. Once you pop the sponsor form online tell your friends, colleagues and family what you're doing. It's a brilliant charity and a lesser known one so let's get it out there! Fleur, Karenza and I were blown away by peoples' generosity."

All Paws & Shoes Challengers can choose a welcome gift of a bandana or a dog tag. To set off on your own adventure with your pooch and walk in solidarity for pets who can’t, click here
