Hayley is currently a Lecturer in Veterinary Nursing

Hayley graduated from the Royal Veterinary College with a BSc Veterinary Nursing in 2004.  Having worked as a locum nurse following graduation, she joined the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals (QMHA) as a Surgery and Theatre Nurse in 2006 where she progressed to Senior Surgery Nurse.  Whilst working at the QMHA, she was in the first cohort of graduates completing the RVC Graduate Diploma in Professional and Clinical Veterinary Nursing.

In 2010 she moved to Queen's Veterinary School Hospital (University of Cambridge) and became Head Theatre Nurse during her time there, before returning to the RVC in 2013 to take a position in the Centre for Veterinary Nursing.

Since she has been in her current role at the RVC, Hayley completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Education and achieved fellowship status with the Higher Education Academy.

Hayley teaches and assesses both undergraduate veterinary nurses on the FdSc & BSc Veterinary Nursing courses and Registered Veterinary Nurses taking the online Graduate and Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Nursing.

She is an assessor for all OSCE exams at the RVC (veterinary and veterinary nursing students) and is involved in teaching and assessing BVetMed students for their animal handling DOPS. 

Hayley is a the Year 2 Leader for the undergraduate programmes, Deputy Senior Tutor for Veterinary Nursing, a clinical tutor for veterinary nursing students and a BSc final year project supervisor. 

Hayley is particularly interested in theatre nursing and the pre and postoperative care of surgical patients and their rehabilitation.  She completes regular clinical work and small group teaching in the QMHA to maintain her clinical skills and knowledge.
