Evidence based veterinary medicine (EBVM)  in the UK took a giant step forward with the First International EBVM Network Conference on October 23-24, 2014. The meeting was organised by RCVS Knowledge and was a huge success, with 250 delegates being treated to a diverse programme of plenary presentations and optional parallel sessions.  Over 30 poster presentations reported on a wide range of EBVM projects across the UK while the social events provided a wonderful opportunity for networking to build on existing friendships as well as creating new ones. With clinical data from 300 practices, 1.5 million companion animals and 10.5 million episodes of clinical care leading to 11 peer-reviewed publications, VetCompass was represented at the EBVM conference with an oral presentation and four posters. VetCompass used the meeting to launch two interactive infographics on canine demography and canine disorders in the UK that were supported by an RCVS Knowledge Award. A video showing highlights of the EBVM Network Conference is now available to view online.
