The RVC has been ranked by its students as providing the best quality courses of all UK universities in the National Student Survey (NSS).

Overall, 94% of RVC students declared themselves satisfied with the quality of their course, the highest level amongst all UK universities. However, satisfaction rates for many courses went even higher, including:

  • 100% of FdSc Veterinary Nursing students said they were satisfied with the quality of their course
  • 100% of FdSc Veterinary Nursing students said they were satisfied with the learning resources
  • An increase of 30% in the satisfaction, compared to previous year, of FdSc Veterinary Nursing students (78% agreed) with the assessment and feedback in their course
  • 95% of BVetMed Students said they were satisfied with the quality of their course
  • 93% of BVetMed students said they were satisfied with the teaching on their course
  • 95% of BSc Biosciences students said they were satisfied with the teaching on their course
  • 93% of BSc Biosciences students said they were satisfied with the quality of their course.

The annual survey, which addresses student satisfaction across a range of areas, was responded to by more than 300,000 students. This represents a response rate of 68% nationally, though the RVC response rate was much higher, at 83%.

The survey confirms that the RVC continues to improve year-on-year and its investment in learning resources is recognised by its students. These improvements have been recognised by students, as 95% said the learning resources available to them support their learning well.

Professor David Church, Deputy Principal and Vice Principal (Students) of the RVC, said “Our continued improvement in the NSS over the last five years, culminating in our number one ranking this year amongst all UK universities, is extremely pleasing. Both our staff and students have worked very hard to ensure The Royal Veterinary College delivers an enriching and fulfilling educational experience in a supportive environment. We are all thrilled that these efforts have been rewarded with such significant success with our gold ranking in the 2017 TEF and now first place in this highly regarded national benchmark of student satisfaction and teaching quality.”

Professor Stuart Reid, Principal of the RVC, said: “We are delighted with the outcome of this year's NSS and the great encouragement it gives us in striving to make a good thing better. Importantly the result bears testament to the collaborative efforts of both students and staff as we work together in advancing standards and student experience at The Royal Veterinary College.”
