Dr Chris Shield
Department: Pathobiology & Population Sciences
Chris obtained his BSc (Hons) in Human Biology and Infectious Diseases from Salford University in 2019; here he first became interested in translational research. In 2020 he completed a MSc in Tropical Disease Biology from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine where he investigated adherence to anti-tuberculosis drug therapy. Combining his interest in translational research and tuberculosis, Chris completed a PhD at the RVC in 2024 where he developed novel diagnostic tools to detect tuberculosis and paratuberculosis. This research was patented and is currently being commercialised.
Currently employed as a post-doctoral researcher, Chris continues to develop and design novel diagnostics with a particular interest in translating diagnositc technologies in low-middle income settings.
