The Library is divided between two sites; Camden, located in central London, and Hawkshead, located near Potters Bar, just north of the M25. Both are intended primarily for use by students and staff of The Royal Veterinary College.

Information for Visitors

External visitors may consult the libraries' stock by prior arrangement only. Borrowing is not allowed, but visitors may make photocopies of library material, subject to standard copyright restrictions, at their own expense.

The material at Camden reflects the pre-clinical and taught post-graduate courses there, while the Hawkshead stock covers the clinical and taught post-graduate courses at that site. Most veterinary material is at Hawkshead. Check our resources with SCOUT, or telephone 01707 666457 to find out whether we have what you want and where it is held.

Please telephone or email library@rvc.ac.uk in advance to make an appointment, 24 hours' notice is preferable. Be advised that, for reasons of security, the porters have standing instructions to turn away any visitor without an appointment. Please bring some form of identification with you such as a student card, driving license or passport.
