The mirror is a very useful, frequently forgotten, instrument in
veterinary dentistry. It should be used for checking the reverse
side of the teeth for lesions and calculus. The 1/5 mirror is double
ended. One end magnifies x5.
A mirror also doubles as a useful lip retractor or tongue depressor
during use. During ultrasonic scaling it is very useful to have
an assistant run air from the 3-way syringe over the glass to keep
vision clear.
