Remove gross calculus by cracking with forceps very carefully
(Cat teeth can be fractured by over-zealous cracking).
Remove the obvious remaining calculus mechanically, with an ultrasonic/sonic
scaler or with a hand scaler. Ensure scaling is carried out both
supra and subgingivally.
