The RVC's extensive research and clinical expertise in musculoskeletal, upper respiratory and cardiopulmonary diseases is backed up by cutting-edge diagnostic equipment, including exercising endoscopy (treadmill and overground), echocardiography (ECG), telemetric ECG and gait analysis (back movement, gait symmetry and horse-rider interaction).

The Structure and Motion Laboratory is a key facility for the RVC's Performance and Equitation research. Researchers use state-of-the-art equipment and world-leading expertise to understand the movement of horses and of riders.

The Comparative Neuromuscular Disease Laboratory offers a specialised service for evaluation of muscle biopsy specimens. Researchers investigate the aetiology, pathogenesis and treatment of neuromuscular diseases in horses and other animals.
