  1. This method cannot be used for quantitative results.
  2. It only shows the presence of helminths eggs or larvae and enables the identification of species or groups present.
  3. The method is relatively insenstitive and dependent on the number of eggs in the sample being high.
  4. It can be difficult to observe or identify the eggs as they may be partly or completely covered by debris.
