UK representatives, Javier Guitian (Professor of Veterinary Public Health at the Royal Veterinary College and Lead of the WOAH Collaborating Centre for Risk Analysis and Modelling) and Helen Roberts (Non-livestock Disease Policy, Risk and Science Advisor at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) recently participated in the delivery of a training program in risk assessment, risk management and simulation exercises in Abu Dhabi.

The training was organised by the WOAH Sub-regional Representation for the Arabian Gulf with attendees from Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The course aimed to enhance the capacities of the veterinary staff in member countries on animal-disease-risk-analysis and practical procedures, along with elevating their knowledge on simulation exercises to strengthen timely containment and control capacities for the diseases of devastating economic, social and sanitary impacts.
