As one of the largest services in Europe with an outstanding international reputation, we provide soft tissue surgery for a range of conditions in dogs and cats.

Our veterinary surgeons at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals have expertise across many sub-specialties as well as across all aspects of pet surgery.

We have specialists in reconstructive, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, recto-anal, cardiothoracic, ENT and minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery.

Our surgeons are very experienced in the management of congenital portosystemic shunts, soft tissue trauma, oncologic surgery, interventional radiology stenting procedures and open heart surgical repair of congenital and acquired cardiac diseases.

We also have a dedicated wound clinic and subcutaneous ureteric bypass re-examination clinic. We also have a brachycephalic clinic that provides an integrated multidisciplinary specialist service for these breeds.

Routine appointments are available Monday to Wednesday and the team receives transfer of cases requiring surgery from the ECC Service 365 days a year. The soft tissue team is happy to receive clinical enquiries including review of imaging studies and wound photographs.

Work with other specialist teams

We work closely with the Oncology Service to provide surgery for dogs and cats with cancer, and our team is integrated with the Emergency and Critical Care Service to support patients needing intensive care before and after surgery. In collaboration with the Diagnostic Imaging Service, we offer a variety of interventional radiology procedures, including placement of ureteral, tracheal and urethral stents.
