Description: Discover Careers with Animals is a session we have designed for you to deliver to your pupils with the option to include a live video Q&A afterward with RVC staff and student ambassadors.

The session is designed to:

  • Introduce your pupils to careers in animal science
  • Introduce your pupils to the RVC and our courses
  • Provide a taste of university-style learning through a taster lecture
  • Help you to meet Gatsby Benchmark 7

The resources have been created so that you do not have to complete all the activities and can use them either as part of a lesson or as a full lesson dedicated to learning about careers with animals. We will provide a PDF lesson plan and PowerPoint presentation including links to videos - such as ‘Campus tours’ hosted by current students, ‘A day in the life" of three different vets and a wildlife biologist, and a taster lecture on Veterinary Emergencies recorded by one of our RVC experts. There is also a quiz for the pupils to complete alongside the session.

Once you have delivered the session we can join the whole class on a video call for a Q&A about the RVC and University life. Alternatively, If you identify students interested in applying to animal science, veterinary or veterinary nursing in the future, we can arrange a video call with that group to offer bespoke support.
