Our senior specialists and specialists-in-training come from around the world to push the boundaries of veterinary science and to work alongside colleagues who are committed to improving the lives of animals.

    Senior Lecturer in Small Animal Medicine

    Department of Clinical Science and Services

    Aarti is part of the Veterinary Internal Medicine Service and is particularly interested in gastrointestinal disease and nutrition.

    Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Anaesthesia

    Department of Clinical Science and Services

    Chiara is part of our Anaesthesia and Analgesia Service and her main fields of interest and research are locoregional anaesthesia, peri-operative pain management and development of anaesthetic techniques for exotic animal species.

    Senior Lecturer in Anaesthesia

    Hatim is part of the Anaesthesia and Analgesia Service and is interested in all areas of anaesthesia and analgesia.

  • Dominic Barfield BSc BVSc MVetMed DACVECC DECVECC FHEA MRCVS

    Senior Lecturer in Emergency and Critical Care and co-head of the service

    Department of Clinical Science and Services

    Dom is co-head of the Emergency Referrals and Critical Care services. He is particularly interested in sepsis, transfusion medicine and care of the critically ill patient.

    Lecturer in Small Animal Surgery

    Lee is part of the Soft Tissue Surgery Service and is interested in all aspects of surgery.

  • Elsa Beltran Ldo Vet DipECVN MRCVS

    Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Neurology and Neurosurgery

    Department of Clinical Science and Services

    Elsa is part of the Neurology and Neurosurgery service and is interested in all aspects of veterinary neurology and neurosurgery, but has a particular interest in progressing our understanding of post-traumatic epilepsy and other neurological sequelae in dogs after traumatic brain injury. 

  • Simon Bertram MRCVS

    Veterinary specialist-in-training

    Department of Clinical Science and Services

    Simon is training to be a specialist in small animal neurology and neurosurgery. He is interested in all aspects of neurology, neurosurgery and neuropathology, although he has a special interest in neurological diseases caused by systemic hypertension.

  • Cristina BianchiMRCVS

    Veterinary specialist-in-training

    Department of Clinical Science and Services

    Cristina is training to be a specialist in anaesthesia and analgesia. She is interested in all aspect of anaesthesia, although is keen to focus on local anaesthetic techniques and chronic pain management.

    Associate Professor and Reader in Veterinary Dermatology

    Department of Clinical Science and Services

    Ross Bond is head of the Dermatology Service has a particular interest in microbial infections of the skin.

    After 12 years of general practice Jo is training to be a specialist in dermatology.
