Alveolar bone

The roots are encased in alveolar processes.

The most dense bone lines the alveolus, and is occasionally seen radiographically as a white line called the lamina dura.

Sight of an uninterrupted lamina dura is interpreted radiographically as a sign of good periodontal health.
