Complications: Introduction

Next>>

The operator needs to be aware of the complications associated with tooth extraction in dogs and cats.

In most instances, complications need to be addressed immediately. However, some may not be immediately apparent. Haemorrhage can occur several hours post-op if the blood clot retracts or is lost by tongue probing. Oral nasal fistulae may take several weeks to become apparent and functional following maxillary canine removal.
