HEFCE requires all HEIs to conduct an Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) on their REF policy and the procedures for selecting staff for REF submissions.

The College conducted a final EIA to ascertain if there was an imbalance relative to the total potential pool. This was conducted by an analysis of data on staff who were eligible for selection in respect of all the protected characteristics for which data was available. This analysis covered all eligible staff.

The results of this assessment confirmed that, on the whole, there were no major areas of concern in relation to the protected characteristics as defined in the Equality Act 2010 (for which the College currently holds data for). This is evidenced by high return rates for staff in the BME ethnicity categories or staff who had identified they had a disability.
