Every submitting Higher Education Institution was required to develop, document and apply their own Code of Practice (REF CoP) on selecting staff to include in the REF submission and to handle individual staff circumstances.
The Royal Veterinary College's REF CoP has been created taking into account the detailed requirements received from HEFCE and the Equality Challenge Unit. It describes how the College applied the principles of transparency, consistency, accountability and inclusivity to the selection of eligible staff to be included in the College's REF submission and how individual staff circumstances were identified, handled and considered.
The REF CoP has been discussed in detail by the Senior Management Group and the Joint Negotiating and Consultative Committee, which includes UCU representatives, and has been approved by Academic Board.
The College's REF CoP is available here.
The Equality and Diversity Advisory Panel (EDAP) have produced a report on good practice found while reviewing UK HEIs Codes of Practice on the selection of staff for the REF.
