Soraia is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow, at Skeletal Biology Group, as part of the CarBon consortium.

Soraia started her studies at Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, where she got her BSc. in Molecular Biology and Genetics. After, she did her MSc. in Biochemistry for Health at NOVA Medical School, New University of Lisbon. Her master thesis was supervised by Dr Elsa Sousa and focused on psoriatic arthritis, inflammatory cytokines and biomarkers of bone metabolism in humans and in a mouse model of spondyloarthritis. Now she is a PhD student at RVC supervised by Prof Andrew Pitsillides and funded by Marie Sklodowska-Curie CarBon consortium. In her project she aims to better understand endochondral ossification by modulation of mechanical signals in vivo, their role in cartilage and new therapy targets.
