Mahbub is a current PhD student in the Department of Pathobiology & Population Sciences. His PhD project is on Avian influenza transmission at the animal-human interface in Bangladesh, in collaboration with several partner Institutes and supervised by Dr Jackie Cardwell  (RVC), Professor Mahmudur Rahman (Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research, Bangladesh), Dr Punam Mangtani (LSHTM) and Professor Ahasanul Hoque (Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Bangladesh).

Mahbub Graduated in Medical Science from Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka, Bangladesh and completed his Masters (MPH in Epidemiology) from National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM), Dhaka, Bangladesh.

From May 2003 he has been working in Bangladesh Government Cadre Service at different places with different roles under Ministry of Health and Family Planning, Bangladesh. From 2011 to 2013 he worked with WHO-BAN as Surveillance Medical Officer. Then in 2014 he joined Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), Dhaka, Bangladesh.

He joined the RVC as a PhD student in December 2015. His project on “Avian influenza transmission at the animal-human interface in Bangladesh” supervised by Dr Jackie Cardwell. His project is part of a larger ZELS (Zoonoses and Emerging Livestock Systems) -funded project.

Mahbub is working with his research project on “Avian influenza transmission at the animal-human interface in Bangladesh” supervised by Dr Jackie Cardwell  (RVC), Professor Mahmudur Rahman (Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research, Bangladesh), Dr Punam Mangtani (LSHTM) and Professor Ahasanul Hoque (Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Bangladesh). His project is part of a larger ZELS (Zoonoses and Emerging Livestock Systems) -funded project BALZAC (Behavioural Adaptations in Live poultry trading and farming systems and Zoonoses Control in Bangladesh).

He is involved in different research projects of IEDCR, Bangladesh as Co-Investigators namely National Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey, Bangladesh 2015-16; Non-Communicable Disease (NCD), Injury and Behavioral Risk Factor Prevalence Survey in Bangladesh using Cell Phone Based Disease Surveillance System (CPBDSS); Antimicrobial Resistance of the Uropathogens isolated from Patients attending the Outpatient Department in a Public Hospital in Bangladesh and Research for Behavioral Risk Surveillance and Characterization in Bangladesh.
