Chris is currently involved in farriery related research and works with the Worshipful Company of Farriers on education and examinations.

Chris Pardoe (BSc., AWCF., RSS.) is a working farrier and blacksmith, an Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers, and graduated with a BSc(Hons) in Life Sciences from the Open University. He was a successful competitor in farriery competitions and has shod horses in many countries.

Chris was awarded his PhD in 2011 for his thesis “Mechanics of Hoof Impact and Loading in the Horse”.

Chris undertakes research into evidence-based efficacy of different shoes and veterinary farriery procedures. He also looks at form and function of the equine hoof and how shoes can be used to alleviate or prevent clinical conditions.
