New UK Government guidance indicates that it is permissible for higher education students to travel home for the Easter break, provided you do so only once before 29 April. You can travel back to your term-time accommodation at any time. You should also get tested before you travel home. If you test positive, you will be required by law to self-isolate for 10 days and should not travel.

We are strongly recommending that students who are travelling back from any UK destination undertake a COVID-19 asymptomatic test within the 72 hours prior to their return to campus or private and third party accommodation, whichever is the earliest.

You can obtain asymptomatic COVID-19 tests at a local testing site. A list of local authorities that are involved in asymptomatic testing can be found here. An online search for your local council and asymptomatic testing should indicate your nearest local asymptomatic testing centre; many of these have opened in the last few weeks and more will be opening in the coming month.

We will need to you to upload your results prior to return to campus using our online portal:

Report your AST or PCR results to the RVC  →

Please do not return to campus if you have a positive test; self-isolate for 10 days do not travel/return to campus until that period has elapsed.

For those students in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, or areas of England where asymptomatic testing is not readily available, you must return to your university accommodation and self-isolate until you can organise to obtain a test, either through the University of London asymptomatic testing centre (Camden), other local asymptomatic testing sites in London/Hertfordshire or through the provision of tests at the Hawkshead Campus.

When you have arrived back on campus, we expect there to be a further phase of testing.  Once details of this are confirmed by the Government, we will inform students.

Please do not return to your accommodation if you have been contacted by NHS Track and Trace and have been required to self-isolate.

Please do not return to campus if you have tested positive for COVID-19 and are still within your period of self-isolation. If you are unable to return, please inform your Year Leader/Course Director and the Advice Centre. and inform us as soon as you become aware that this is the case.
