Development of the intestinal loopThe diagram shows the position of the intestines of the adult dog. In the horse, pig and ruminant, marked developmental changes take place in the ascending colon. The descending colon and part of the transverse colon develop from the hindgut and their blood supply is from the caudal mesenteric artery.
