At London Zoo, Messy the gorilla’s being moved to the Czech Republic as part of an international breeding programme. Before she leaves, the Zoo’s Head Vet Wayne Boardman wants to check she’s healthy. Initial x-rays have shown up a shadow in her chest, and Wayne’s worried she may have a growth, maybe even a tumour. He wants to x-ray her lungs again to find out for sure…

Up at the Royal Veterinary College, a 14 week old King Charles Spaniel called Pup has been rushed in to see Emergency and Critical care vet Rob Goggs. Pup’s having problems breathing - he’s been eating grass and the vets think he may have inhaled a grass seed. If they’re right, Pup’ll need major surgery to remove it. The risks are high and Pup may die…

Meanwhile, over at the college’s horse hospital, Megan the horse needs a skin graft for a gaping wound on her leg. Vet Justin Perkins gets to work using some superglue and an unusual piece of kit…
