We use standard packages such as LabView and Testpoint for data collection and initial processing and MS-Excel, MathCad, Mathematica and Matlab for analysis. We do some kinematic analysis using SiliconCoach Pro software. Mimics (Materialise, Inc.) and other software packages (NIH Image J, Osiris, etc.) are used to render CT, MRI, or ultrasound data into 3D images or otherwise process those data.
We do many simulations and models in software packages such as SIMM (Musculographics, Inc.) with SD/Fast Dynamics Pipeline, MSC.Nastran, and more. The lab also uses numerous Matlab toolboxes for modeling and data analysis, such as the Signal Processing toolboxes and more recently uses Matlab's SimMechanics toolbox to perform forward and inverse dynamics analysis of both 2D and 3D mechanical systems. MathCad or Mathematica are commonly used for modelling, for example Hill-type muscle models, and is also primarily used as a tool for kinematic and kinetic analysis of data obtained from the CODA motion analysis system.
