Imaging Equipment and Tools

We have access to various imaging tools to help with various research projects.

Ultrasound, X-Ray, MRI and Fluoroscopy are all available, which is made easier by the locations of the labs within clinical institutions. Ultrasound (machines) is currently being used to detect muscle fibre length and orientation during specific movements and also to detect shoulder joint position. X-Ray is commonly used for various clinical projects investigating musculo-skeletal adaptation, muscle moment arms, and clinical case assessment. This is most commonly done with digital X-Ray machines or digital plates and conventional machines (Phillips Saturn 1200, Agfa Processing Software). Dr Renate Weller has postgraduate residency qualifications in imaging and extensive experience in the use of such equipment.
