Small animal nutrition for nurses - online CPD

MON 11 OCTOBER TO SUN 12 DECEMBER 2010

Course fee: £350

eCPD Registration Form

This online CPD course will review and update small animal nutrition and related physiology. The course is targeted at qualified veterinary nurses who want to refresh and build on their knowledge of nutrition and nutrition-related disease, investigating some of the recent advances in nutrition. It is also suitable for veterinary nurses who are returning to practice after a break.

The course will provide a very practical approach to the realities of general practice with a strong focus on developing the role of the nursing profession in this key area of clinical work.  There is an optional assessment element for those who want to have their learning formally assessed.

The course will run for 9 weeks.  You will be expected to log onto the website several times each week. It is anticipated that you will need to spend 2 to 3 hours a week depending on your current level of knowledge (and typing speed!) between private study and online activities.

Key areas

  • Refresh your anatomy,  physiology and biochemistry in relation to the digestive system, essential nutrients and fluid balance
  • The relationship between diet and disease, in particular the role of nutrition in modifying, treating and managing disease
