This online CPD course has been designed to introduce practitioners to evidence-based veterinary medicine. Practitioners who are interested in thinking more deeply and critically about the reasons for their choice of drugs or treatments will find this a
fascinating and illuminating course that will enhance their critical thinking skills and knowledge of the particular areas of veterinary medicine that interests them.

Key areas
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
• Explain what is meant by “evidence-based veterinary medicine”
• Formulate an answerable clinical question
• Identify and search sources of evidence
• Critically evaluate available evidence
• Apply current best evidence in the decision-making process for individual patients

Course outline

Week 1:
Identifying scenarios that lend themselves to EBVM approach and formulating answerable clinical questions

Week 2:
Refine clinical questions and finding evidence
 
Weeks 3 -5: Critical evaluation of evidence

Week 6: Integration of evidence in individual patient decision making and self-evaluation
