Udder Marathon

A huge thanks to everyone who joined us for an udderly fantastic fancy dress fun run in Cassiobury Park, Watford. The event raised over £2,500 for our Farm Project, run in conjunction with Farming For All.

The Farm Project enables vulnerable people with a range of support needs from the local community to grow stronger and more confident in their daily lives by taking part in meaningful farm experiences that they would not normally have access to in a supportive and positive environment.

The project aims to increase physical and mental wellbeing, boost self-esteem and increase skills in team working, communication and social interaction.

Over 30 runners walked, trotted or galloped their way round the 5 or 10K course in their fancy dress outfits. There were bovine themed prizes for the top three moo-vers in both the 5 and 10K races and The Mayor of Watford, Dorothy Thornhill, chose Marilyn Moonroe for the prize of the best fancy dress!

Charity Dog Show

The Animal Care Trust is pleased to announce that the 2011 Charity Fun Dog Show in aid of the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals was a great success and raised over £2,500 towards the ultrasound scanner that the physiotherapy and rehabilitation unit so desperately needs.

Over 150 dogs took part in our breed and novelty classes, with lots of dogs also having a go on the fastest scurry and agility courses. For their owners we had a raffle, tombola, cake stall, face painting and much more...

We have had such wonderful feedback from everyone who came along, so a huge thanks to everyone who made it such a success, especially all the people who came along to support us.

We are also so grateful for the fantastic support we have received at our previous events. The money raised through these shows has allowed us to purchase the amazing underwater treadmill which is now in use in the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Unit.

Thanks again to everyone who has kindly supported the Animal Care Trust at this and our previous shows.

Please look out for you and your dog in our gallery of photos from the show. Prints of these photos can be ordered from the ACT at a price of £5 with half of this money going towards the ultrasound scanner fund. Simply email us with the number of the photo(s) you would like to order and we will arrange to get your chosen photograph(s) out in the post to you. You can pay for your chosen prints by card over the phone on 01707 666237 or alternatively by sending a cheque (made payable to RVC ACT) to us at Royal Veterinary College Animal Care Trust, Hawkshead Lane, North Mymms, Herts, AL9 7TA.

Charity Dog Walk

On Sunday 10th October 2010 over 130 dogs and their owners enjoyed the stunning grounds of Hatfield House and raised over £2,000 for our work supporting the Royal Veterinary College's not-for-profit hospitals.

We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came along on the day to support us.

The Animal Care Trust last held a dog walk around Hatfield House Park in 2005, and we are so grateful to the Marquess of Salisbury for kindly opening his park to us once again.

There was something everyone with 1, 2 and 3 mile courses and plenty to see around the park. .

Entrants received a goody bag at the end of their walk with items kindly donated by Bayer Animal Health, MDC Exports, Hills Pet Nutrition and Pedigree.

Photos of the event are available so please have a look through to see if you can find your dog in our gallery!
