Leave a gift in your will

Our pets give us so much. We cannot put a value on the comfort and joy that they bring to our lives. The good news is that you can do something very special for them in return; include a gift in your will for the Animal Care Trust.

When you make or update your will, it's only right that you think of your loved ones first.  After making provisions for your family and friends, please consider helping the animals that we care for.  A gift in your will (often called a legacy) is a simple and enduring way to support our work.  No gift is too small to make a difference and to help secure a brighter future for thousands of animals.

Our patients have benefited greatly over the years from the generosity of our clients, friends, former students and staff whose legacies will last for generations.  Like them, you can help us to continue our vital work for years to come and bring the joy of ever more licks, purrs, and neighs to countless grateful owners.

Download our free guide

The Animal Care Trust has produced a useful guide about making a will.  It will show you the importance of making or updating your will, explain some of the terminology that you may come across when doing this and includes frequently asked questions.  You can download a copy of our Legacy Information Pack and the latest Inheritance Tax Laws, alternatively, contact Paula Goad on 01707 666039 or email pgoad@rvc.ac.uk and we will post you the information.

Deciding to leave a gift

Including the Animal Care Trust in your will is a big decision to make and we thank you for your generosity and for thinking of us.  The following forms may be of use to you if you are considering remembering us in your will.

Wording your Will

If you have decided to include the Animal Care Trust in your will, we suggest that you or your solicitor use the wording found here in our Wording your Will information sheet.  If you are unsure of which type of legacy applies to your needs then please download our free guide (above) and read the glossary of terms, which details the different types of gifts you can leave us.

Codicil Form

If you already have a will and would like to leave a gift to the Animal Care Trust, one of the simplest way to make these changes is by completing a codicil form.  A codicil is a supplement to an existing will and allows you to make changes without drawing up a new will. We recommend that you seek professional advice before completing this form as it may be better for you to have your will re-written, especially if you wish to make other changes at the same time.

My gift to the Animal Care Trust

If you have decided to remember the Animal Care Trust in your will, thank you for your kindness and generosity, it is very much appreciated. We understand that your will is a personal document and we will always respect your privacy, however if you would like us to know about your gift then please fill in our response form. It is helpful for us to be able to understand your intentions and we would like to thank you.

The information in this form is in no way legally binding and is treated with the utmost respect and in the strictest of confidence.
