A royal visit to witness WP in action

Princess Anne and studentsOn the 28th January, Her Royal Highness Princess Anne visited the Royal Veterinary College to witness our Widening Participation work. She was also party to discussions on how to foster relationships between the RVC and Academy Schools from across the country.

Staff and students from Langley Academy in Slough took part in a series of activities throughout the morning. Students discovered LIVE's haptic cow, played the top 10 animals game and tried their hand at animal bandaging before moving through to the academic sessions.Science Lab and students

These sessions saw the Year 10 group compete activities in the Anatomy Museum followed by applying their newfound knowledge with live animals in the demonstration room.

The Year 12 group spent some time in one of our laboratories, learning about the science behind the study of immunology and completing advanced experiments themselves.

Feedback from the day was excellent; pupils and school staff commented on the high quality activities and teaching they encountered. We hope that this day will strengthen our relationship with Academies and raise the profile of Widening Participation in the veterinary professions.
