RVC Taster Courses
BSc Bioveterinary Sciences Taster Course
Wednesday 21st March 2012
This one-day course offered year 12 students the opportunity to learn about the unique blend of the biological sciences relating to animals; the way they work, their health, their diseases and their relationships with humans. The course was taught by an extensive range of scientists and clinicians who are knowledgeable from their own experience of animal disease and research. This means we covered animal biology, management and disease. Please note: BSc Bioveterinary Sciences graduates are not permitted to practice as veterinary surgeons and this taster course is not focused on Veterinary Medicine.
Enrolment Requirements: Participants in the taster courses were Year 12 students who are studying Chemistry and either Maths or Biology or Physics at A-Level or at Higher Level on the Intenational Baccalaureate.

Veterinary Medicine Taster Course
Wednesday 4th & Thursday 5th April 2012
This short course was designed to provide Year 12 students with the opportunity to experience life as a veterinary medicine student at the Royal Veterinary College. The two day (non residential) course consisted of several elements designed to give an overview of study at a veterinary institution; including lectures, a live anatomy examination, dissection, farm visit and the opportunity to speak with current RVC students about their experiences. Over the two days the students had the chance to use and see many of the state-of-the-art facilities we have at both our Camden Campus, London and our Hawkshead Campus, Hertfordshire. The Camden Campus houses newly refurbished research laboratories, an extensive library, an anatomy museum, a Learning Resources Centre and The Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital. The Hawkshead Campus has Europe’s largest referral veterinary hospital in the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals, in addition to a working farm, a Clinical Skills Centre and an Equine Centre.
Enrolment Requirements: Participants in the taster courses were Year 12 students who are studying Biology and Chemistry at A-Level or at Higher Level on the Intenational Baccalaureate.
